Join us for a captivating morning as music expert Danny Tielemans dives deep into the life and work of Rudy Van Gelder, whose meticulous engineering defined the sonic standards of jazz. Van Gelder engineered and mastered hundreds of iconic jazz records, leaving an indelible mark from the early 1950s through more than half a century. He collaborated with celebrated jazz labels such as Blue Note, Prestige, Impulse, Savoy, Verve, CTI, and Muse, creating legendary recordings revered by jazz lovers and audiophiles worldwide.
Renowned for his relentless pursuit of sound perfection, Van Gelder initially created his signature sound in the humble setting of his parents' living room in Hackensack, New Jersey, using state-of-the-art recording equipment. Original pressings bearing the iconic 'RVG' or 'VAN GELDER' stamp in the run-out groove are now highly coveted by collectors, a true audiophile's treasure.
